Shasta County Department of Social Services: Children and Family Services (CFS): Foster Care Placement Services
information provided by: Shasta County Mental Health
Provide stability to children and teens in the foster care system. These children are either dependents (referred by child welfare) or wards of the court (referred by probation) who cannot return to their parents until safety, health and protection is secured. The goal is to reunify the family once the court determines that a parent and/or child has demonstrated stability. Each child and parent has an individualized case plan ordered by the court, which is overseen by social workers and supported by Mental Health, Public Health, Shasta County of Education, Alcohol and Drug and Probation. While the child is in foster care, he or she may be placed with a relative, adoptive family, foster family or the Transitional Housing Placement Program for ages 16-24. Wraparound is an intensive treatment and in-home support service for youth who are dependents and wards at risk of placement in group homes through CFS and Probation.
